THE EXPERIENCE

At the house’s historic site, find yourself on a guided tour at the center of unique and monumental tuffeau stone caves. Relive the saga of Jean-Baptiste Ackerman, the founder of the house bearing the same name. He was a forerunner in the production of refined sparkling wines Saumur according to the méthode traditionnelle, a procedure that you will learn all about during this visit. Afterwards, you will then be offered the opportunity of admiring the artistic installations created especially for our majestic troglodyte galleries as part of the Ackerman-Fontevraud artistic residency. Let the festive season weave its magic with this art exhibition before a commented tasting of a selection of three wines.

During a guided visit, find yourself at the heart of our tuffeau stone caves and learn about over two hundred years of Loire Valley fine sparkling wine making: thereby discovering the history of the oldest sparkling wine house in Saumur. And then, during a commented tasting of a selection of our best wines, one of our ambassadors will tell you all about the secrets of Loire Valley wines. Punctuate this unique experience with a meal in one of our reception rooms at the heart of our typical Samur troglodyte galleries. We will prepare dishes according to your desires, featuring food and wine pairings!

Food & wine tastings along the Loire

A sublime, sensorial and tasty trip along the Loire Valley

THE EXPERIENCE

Start your experience with a guided visit of our galleries, our troglodyte caves, Maison Ackerman’s historic site. As you walk through our cellars, you will learn about two centuries of sparkling wine making. Your senses and preferences will then be stirred by a commented tasting of sparkling wines (Crémant de Loire, Saumur brut) and premium Loire Valley appellations (Saumur-Champigny, Muscadet, Sancerre…) served with sweet and savory treats. These tasty pairings such as rillauds (a local specialty made from pork) with Saumur Champigny Clos de Chaumont from Domaine de la Perruche, owned by Maison Ackerman, have been created by our oenologists in collaboration with local producers.

• A guided tour of our troglodyte caves, Maison Ackerman’s historic site. • A tasting commented by one of our sommeliers of four premium wines with an introduction to the finest Loire Valley grape varieties (Chenin Blanc, Pineau d’Aunis, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc), paired with local specialties. « Loire Valley wine route workshop »

A team game designed to teach you about Loire Valley wines from Nantes to Sancerre

THE EXPERIENCE

Before visiting the House’s historic site, our sommelier will offer you the possibility of testing your winemaking knowledge thanks to a workshop, created by one of our ambassadors, Julien Goudeau. This introduction to oenology takes places in the friendly atmosphere of the Copper room, where the house’s prestigious wines used to be made. It will allow you to develop your wine culture and your ability to recognize the Loire Valley’s renowned appellations from wines made out of our vineyards. You will discover terroirs, grape varieties and the different steps to wine tasting... In turn, you will become an expert in great Loire Valley wines!

• A fun tasting lesson (aroma game, blind tastings, MCQ test...) with an explication about the varieties used to elaborate our wines (Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Pineau d’Aunis, Pinot Noir ...) given by a Maison Ackerman ambassador. • A self-tour of the historic site: troglodyte caves.

Following the tour of our tuffeau stone caves, the highest ones in Saumur, discover temporary artistic installations displayed for a period of three years in our troglodyte galleries as part of the Ackerman-Fontevraud artistic residency. Relish these exhibitions in the company of one of our ambassadors, who will offer you the possibility of taking part in a special tasting, bringing together art and wine! Completely immerged within our caves and surrounded by majestic works of art, this is a unique experience, where you can let yourself go to the emotion of bubbles and art !

The «Royal» Experience

A private visit of the caves with Maison Ackerman’s ambassador.

THE EXPERIENCE

Our ambassador will offer you the exclusive experience of opening up the doors of the cellar containing our “Old Vintages”, the House’s most well-guarded place at the heart of Ackerman’s historic caves. Take part in a tasting of three emblematic wines, conserved here by our cellar masters over the past century.

And then step into the shoes of a Cellar Master in the “Copper room”, where some of the most prestigious wines of the house were created. Discover, as a result, the art of blending the great red wines of Anjou derived from the great terroirs of the region of Brissac.

Last of all, our ambassador will escort you to the Dining Room for a tasting of the house’s great Loire Valley wines paired with savory treats prepared by our caterer, La Duchesse Anne.

The Verrière ROOM

This immense cathedral-like cave, dug out of tuffeau, was dedicated to the production of fine sparkling wines. At present, it enhances Ackerman’s exceptional heritage and can be used for cocktails catering for up to 300 guests.
